6/10 Area we are. Elliot Hiway starts above Fairbanks and stops at Manley Hot Springs (which we haven't visited yet!) Dalton Hiway goes the rest of the way. This section was created in the 70's. Before that it was rutroads.
Bebe took this on her cellphone from the Bridge. We had 3 days of dramatic rain and clouds last week. The clouds come out of the west and south and tend to stack up on the other side of the river from where we are at the Yukon River Camp. Certain bodies of water seem to stop clouds, Like at the beach, or when there is a cliff or incline like here, where there's a 150 foot drop that the trucks struggle up across the bridge everyday. In Fort Point back in Boston we've noticed that the Channel seems to divide "weather" in a similar way. It'll be raining on one side and not the other.
There's a nice couple who volunteer at the BLM Vistor's Center across the road (look both ways!) from the Camp. Linda and Ray live close by in a camper and are here almost every day. We are entering tourist season now and we get a lot of motorcyclists, campers (a yellow VW ca. '63 van went through a couple days ago) and they are as busy as we are.
